DVD: Schools in participating cable markets will receive a DVD of the program to use for classroom viewing.

How will the winners be determined?

Each entry will be judged by a panel of independent, qualified judges and will be assigned a numerical point value based on the following judging criteria with equal weight being given to each criteria element.

  • relevance to the “MLK: A Dream Deferred” program
  • originality/creativity
  • clarity of expression
  • grammar

The Grand Prize winning entry will be the one that receives the highest aggregate point score.

After the Grand Prize winner has been determined, the entries will be separated according to the market area in which the entrant resides. Entries submitted by entrants who reside in the market area of a participating cable operator will be judged again using the criteria listed above to determine local First Prize winners. For each market area of a participating cable operator, the First Prize winning entry will be the entry that, on a market-by-market basis, receives the highest aggregate point score. In the event that no eligible entries are received in a particular participating cable operator market area, no First Prize will be awarded in that participating cable operator market.

In case of a tie for a First Prize in a market area of a participating cable operator, the tie will be broken by comparing the originality/creativity score value of each tied entry. The entry with the highest originality/creativity score will be deemed the First Prize winner. In the event that a tie still exists, the entry with the earliest submission date and time (Eastern Time, as assigned by Sponsor’s server) will be deemed the First Prize winner.

When will the winners be notified?
The schools of winning entrants will be notified on or about April 30, 2008.
