Los Angeles Opening Of “Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour”

All of the latest drama inside the Jackson family reminds us why the late Michael Jackson was so protective of his children. With much of the saga playing out on Twitter, it’s hard to keep up with who said what. Although tensions have been brewing over a dispute regarding the legendary pop star’s will and estate, it all escalated into a custody case within a matter of days. We’ve created a timeline that details all of the scandal as it played out over the last three weeks.

July 15: The family matriarch Katherine Jackson travels to Arizona. Her lawyer says she traveled to Albuquerque with her oldest daughter, Rebbie, to see the Jackson brothers in concert. MJ’s three children — Prince, Paris and Prince Michael II (Blanket) are at their home in Calabasas, CA.

July 18: A letter signed by five of Michael’s siblings — Rebbie, Janet, Jermaine, Randy and Tito — accused the executors of the MJ’s estate of "mistreating and misadvising their 82-year-old mother" and asked for their resignation.

July 20: Jermaine tweets:

I want to reassure everyone (inc all sudden medical experts) that Mother is fine but is resting up in AZ on the orders of a doctor, not us

— Jermaine Jackson (@jermjackson5) July 20, 2012

He later posts,

This is our mother and her health is paramount. We are not inventing or plotting anything. We are following doctor’s advice. Period.

July 21: After the children tried contacting their grandmother without success, Katherine’s nephew Trent reported the missing matriarch to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.

July 22: Sheriff’s Office spokesman Steve Whitmore says officials have been in contact with Katherine, who is safe and staying with other family members.

MJ’s 14-year-old daughter, Paris takes to Twitter:

yes , my grandmother is missing . i haven’t spoken with her in a week i want her home now .

— Paris Jacksoη (@ParisJackson) July 22, 2012

July 24: Paris again tweets:

9 days and counting… so help me god i will make whoever did this pay

— Paris Jacksoη (@ParisJackson) July 24, 2012

Randy Jackson appears on MSNBC and claims Michael’s will is a fake. The will awards Katherine $86,000 each month to care for the children.

TMZ.com posts a video that appears to show Janet grabbing for Paris’ cellphone at the family home. Media reports blow up, saying Janet hit the teenager and called her a B*!&%.

July 25: With still no word from Katherine, the judge in the case temporarily suspended Katherine as the children’s guardian and awarded temporary custody to Katherine’s grandson, TJ (Tito’s son) who is 34-years-old and close to the kids.

Katherine declares she’s coming home in a statement, "I am devastated that while I’ve been away, that my grandchildren have been taken away from me, and I’m coming home."

July 26: Katherine returns to Calabasas.

MJ’s oldest son Prince tweets:

"Although I am happy my grandma was returned, after speaking with her I realized how misguided and how badly she was lied to. I’m really angry and hurt."  Read the full tweet here

July 27: A judge orders an investigation into the kids’ welfare. Katherine agrees to share custody of the kids with TJ. The custody dispute is resolved, for now.

August 1: TMZ.com issues an apology for their earlier and incorrect report that stated Janet hit and verbally-abused her niece. Jermaine tweets again, offering an olive branch and stated he removed his signature from the letter sent to the executors of MJ’s estate on July 18. Read the full tweet here.

What do YOU think? Did Katherine travel to AZ on her own? Or was she held against her will by her own kids?
